Jennifer Hamilton, MLIS, is Head of Instruction and an Assistant Professor at the Dupré Library, University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Before joining the Dupré Library team in 2015, she was Reference Services Supervisor at Terrebonne Parish Public Library system for 6 years. She is a founding and continuously serving member of the planning committee for the 2019 and 2020 Louisiana Virtual Academic Conference, the first state-hosted national virtual conference for academic librarians..

When not teaching, collaborating with faculty, or planning library instruction classes, Jennifer’s efforts are focused on the development of library instruction resources for online students. Her research interests include the use of kinesthetic learning in library instruction and emerging tools that make it possible for 360 tours and subject guides to serve as engaging points of access for online users to library services and resources. As a part of her continuing interest in the use of virtual worlds for education, Jen was a teacher-trainee in the GUINEVERE project, and is developing a pilot virtual world for library education in Kitely. Her volunteer work includes leadership roles in the Academic Section of the Louisiana Library Association and as 2020-21 Co-Chair of the technology committee of the ALA Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT).
