We decided to research the drive and motivations of our field by using an easily identifiable self-categorization tool: the Hogwarts Houses, as defined in the Harry Potter universe. This session will discuss our motivations behind this topic, outline preliminary conclusions from our survey, and delve into some associated topics that must be considered as part of this research process, namely: what does it means to be using an identification system outlined in an inherently problematic author?
Authors from underrepresented groups are often excluded from traditional forms of scholarship and it can be challenging to find them through traditional research strategies. This presentation will cover activities to engage students in conversations about privilege in scholarship. These activities give learners the practical skills to find the voices they may not have found otherwise. Attendees will leave with resources and exercises they can use in their own teaching, face-to-face or online.

The 6 licenses, identified by combinations of 4 icons, allow material to be used without worry about copyright infringement, as long as the rules of the license are followed. However, the relationship between CC and copyright is often misunderstood. Library chat queries changed between the Spring 2018 and Spring 2019 semesters. During the Fall 2018 semester, the Library implemented two major services. Researchers saw trends associated with these services reflected in chats. Analysis examined how the frequency of controlled terms applied to chat transcripts changed before and after the services' implementation. The terms associated with the new services showed a dramatic decline in frequency. An association is strongly suggested.

This presentation is an extension of a Spring 2020 Learning with LOUIS session and will cover gathering statistics in Workflows and other platforms such as EBSCOhost for submission to IPEDS (and other data collectors). Topics covered include changes in the 2020-21 IPEDS survey, what reports to run, determining what your usage statistics are telling you about your collection, and how to make life easier for yourself when reporting figures.

With the COVID-19 crisis, this series had to be re-thought, re-worked, and re-imagined to accommodate a virtual setting. Graphic novels are being used to share information for enjoyment and for intellectual pursuit. Humans respond to and rely on imagery and minimal text to convey information. Graphic novels, through their multimodality, expose learners to different literacies. Welcome to the Graphic World as we explore and discuss what kinds of informational comics and graphic novels are available, how can they be used and taught in and out of the classroom, and what are good resources to find them?
I will discuss how I made a libguide highlighting the library's online resources as a whole and guiding students to them for the quarantine period and updated other libguides to highlight the electronic resources on those topics. I will also discuss creating instructional Youtube videos which I incorporated into the Libguides.
As the impact of COVID continues to evolve, safely managing library resources for both users and employees has presented many challenges. The crisis requires quarantining of books and reshaping of public services to maintain effectiveness and visibility. The librarians will share their own re-opening plans and actions such as cleaning, preparing common areas as well as discuss how to develop a social media campaign that communicates steadiness and resolve.

This allows for viewing and managing shared/local information in a variety of FOLIO ERM applications (Agreements, eHoldings, Licenses and Organizations)
Librarians and other non-programmers can use spreadsheets to display and analyze data without knowing a programming language. Learn how to access data via hyperlinks and web services APIs to pull Symphony catalog information into spreadsheets. This presentation will demonstrate some practical applications of this method using Excel spreadsheets and Google Sheets. There will be a discussion of advantages and pitfalls.
