Elizabeth Batte, MLIS, is the Director of Ellender Memorial Library and the Open Education Resource Coordinator for Nicholls State University. She received her MLIS from Louisiana State University and has a BS in journalism from the University of Mississippi. Being a first-generation college student and Batte’s early library career in public libraries created the foundation of her drive and passion for affordable education. She has worked with the Louisiana academic library consortium LOUIS to cultivate an OER repository catered to Louisiana higher education curriculum. Her current research interest focuses on the impact of librarians in the OER community, women in leadership in higher education, and best practices in library trends. She is the Assistant Editor for the ACRL-LA open access peer-reviewed journal CODEX and writes a bi-annual column on current trends and news in the open-access community with a focus on Louisiana projects and impacts.
